Hidden Gems of the Nelson Lakes Tour

10.00am. Start your day meeting your ‘local’ driver /guide at your accommodation in St Arnaud.

The unspoilt Gem. Nelson Lakes is truely a place to discover. Known to the Maori heading to the West Coast, later discovered by settlers, surveyors and travellers. St Arnaud is big on history and small on numbers. Our community consists of approx 250 permanent residents, many of whom have an historical alliance with the village and are mindful of conserving the natural beauty of the area thru conservation work. During the summer and winter seasons the number increases slightly due to the number of holiday houses. However peace and quiet are what you will find here regardless.

Enjoy a relaxing day visiting local entrepreneurs and storytellers, go on a short 1 hour guided walk, visit a farm, hear stories of the colourful history of the area and visit a viewpoint for a different perspective of the lake.

Extend your tour with a 40 min helicopter flight over the Nelson Lakes where you will get spectacular views of the lakes, including the world famous Blue Lake, tarns and rivers in the National Park. The Blue Lake/ Rotomariewhenua really is the Hidden Gem of the Nelson Lakes region. Hiking 4-5 days is the only other option.

We require a minimum fare of $350.00 or 3 persons to operate this tour.
